Share document as a read-only file with the ability to update

Dear all,

How can I share an excel 2010 workbook with other people, without giving them the ability to change something. The people only may have the possibility to read the file, but if I change or add some data to the file, their "read only file" has to be updated as well. I protected my sheets already and hided some as well. I also don't understand how to save it as a "read only file". I only know how to add a password to the option to "unprotect" the file again.

Can someone help me out?

well...I'll take a stab at this...The only ways I can see you doing this is 1) resend the workbook everytime you update it;2)be the lead Team member; or 3)use some sort of "Cloud(?)" net sharing service where you can set the permissions...there are probably several more ways to accomplish this, but those are the ones I can think of, off hand..

as to the rest of your question, I will have to let others answer that, I am not really sure how to save as "Read Only", Pretty sure you could change Attributes after you save, but not sure that's what you are looking for..

A picture may be worth a thousand words, BUT, a sample Workbook is worth a thousand screenshots!
-Add a File - click advanced (next to quick post), scroll to manage attachments, click, select add files, click select files, select file, click upload, when file shows up at bottom left, click done (bottom right), click submit

if the file is on a network, you can save it with a password, and allow others opem it only.

select file/save as, then at the bottom left corner of the window, select tools and select general options, select PW to modify. they can still change stuff, but they will not be able to save the file
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
