how does excel understand english and german formulas?

Hallo I am Larry, I have a german version of excel, but I want to put in english formulas, how can I do that? Example: =summe(a1:c1) and I want excel to understand =sum(a1:c1).

In my german version excel does not understand the english formula =name?

I think you would need to change you Windows international settings.

Hi Larry,

there is no way to fool your German version into a multi-lingual version.

You need to use an English version and import your file into a German version or vice-versa.

That's the way how international versions communicate with each other.

When somebody add an englisch formula in an Excel file, and you will open it with an German version, Excel will automatic translate the Englisch formula in eine German version.
