index match formula not working

I am trying to match a list of clients that were set up as vendor's with another list of clients that were set up in a different system that keeps track of client profitability. Now, these client names do not have an exact match when comparing both lists either do to a name cut off or space so I can't really use a vlookup to find the client and obtain the name. I wanted to use index match ( by the way this is my first time attempting it ) and it is not working can you please help me out in pulling the client codes that I need.
