Question Time change calculation in Excel 2010

I have a performance spreadsheet (shows how we have performed over a time span) that updates based on the date. The issue is when the date/time changes within Excel. Example of the issue: The sheet is printed at 05:19 and the data is 11/14/12; then when the same sheet is printed out at 06:19, the data is for 11/15/12. Can anyone tell me when Excel calculates a date change? And how can I make it an earlier date/time change? Our reports usually run around 05:00 to prepare for the next shift coming in at 06:00.

    Hi

excel calculates the date as midnight on that day its the fractions that denote the hours. It might make life easier if you use the today function rather than the now function.

Actually I do use the today() function. But even though the time is after midnight, it seems that if the sheet is printed around 05:00, then it is still showing the date before midnight.

    Hi

Im at a loss on that one has someone turned off auto calc and put it on manual and the only other thing I can think of is the system time and date correct. Do you print it off or does someone else print it and are they changing the date first. Clutching at straws Im afraid but its all I can think off as I have never had your situation on my computer.

We are at a loss too. The Auto Calculate is on. We will are going to try something over the weekend and see how it works. I have asked that before the report is printed that they ensure that they have gone to the formula tab and hit the calculate now button and then save BEFORE they print. We will give this a try for a while. Maybe, just maybe, it was being printed before it was saved. By not being there when it occurs, it is hard to figure out exactly what is causing the issue. If this test works, I will then come back and update this thread. If it does not work, I will update that as well.

Thanks for the responses. I rely a lot on this forum and have been helped many times.

    dcoates,

Did you expand the date format where you have the =TODAY() formula? Include the hours and minutes... maybe it will clue you in somehow...

Are there macros in your spreadsheet that someone added a funny formula?

    Just my thoughts... good luck...

Re: Time change calculation in Excel 2010

does anything change within the spreadsheet when the print out occurs?
Auto-Calculate will only occur when something changes, and(if I remember right) ONLY the cells affected by the changes..

I might be wrong, but unless something forces a check of Today, the date probabally won't change, ie "print worksheet" also results in something like last printout was...?
    Hope this helps
