# problem in countif function

1. ## problem in countif function

hi all,
i am using office 2007 and i want to calculate the no. of days for which there is a remark ( for example tea , coffee.....). pls help me to create a formula for January which will give me the result as '6'.....as there is 6 days in January for which any remark is there....i will implement the same formula for other months, i can't sort these two columns because of data in other columns. if another formula can be used pls tell me. i had used =COUNTIF(b5:b19,">=2012.01.01","<=2012.01.31")
here i am adding a snap for better understanding.....

Hi - Your post does not comply with Rule #1 of the Forum:

To change the title of the thread, click EDIT on the original post, then click the Go Advanced button, then change the title. If two or more days have passed, the EDIT button will not appear, and you need to ask a moderator to change the title.

Your Title is not complying with Forum Rule No.1.

As a suggestion you can use the title as "Using Countif with Date's"

To change the title of the thread, click EDIT on the original post, then click the Go Advanced button, then change the title. If two or more days have passed, the EDIT button will not appear, and you need to ask a moderator to change the title.

It seems to be the Date's are Text Data so find below the formula to get the result from Text Date's.

Formula:
`Please Login or Register to view this content.`

@ Sixthsense

Sometimes you can not assume

Todays date 21/11/2012 Formatted, custom, yyyy"."mm"."dd and left aligned = 2012.11.21

Use this:

Formula:
`Please Login or Register to view this content.`

Will give you 6 for January and 2 for February when you change 1 to 2.

Hope this helps...

I believe that the some of the cells in column c which seems to be blank will have spaces in it.
