    issue with =day(a1) & =month(a1)

Hello & Good morning happy campers,

I am trying to get a sheet to do the following.

    In A1 i put todays date (29/11/2012)
    In B1 i put =day(a1)
    In C1 i put =month(a1)
    In D1 i put =year(a1)

In B1 unformatted shows 29 - correct if going on todays date.

    BUT

B1 - format to DDDD it shows SUNDAY (or SUN when formatted as DDD)

C1 unformatted shows 11, when i custom format to show as MMMM it shows January (or when formatted to MMM shows JAN), when it should read November, can anyone tell me what im doing wrong / not doing?

    Kind regards

    Hi!

The month formula simply returns a number, not the actual month. So, the 11 returned in C1 represents just the number 11, it doesn't represent November.

If you want C1 to show November, you are better off using the formula =A1 in C1, and using the custom format MMMM.
