    Help with IF and keywords

I was wondering if someone could hep me. I have sheet 1 and sheet 2. On sheet 1, under the "B" column (bet types), I will be typing the type of bet along with a key word ("nfl" "nba" "ncaa f", etc). After every bet, there will be an amt in either the "wins totals" (column c) or "losses totals" (column d) next to the bet type on each line. On sheet 2, I will have every category at the top along with the totals underneath (ex: NFL totals, NBA totals, NCAA f totals, etc). I would like it to pull this info from sheet 1 based on: a)key word in column B, b)Amount in either column c or column d (depending on if it was a win or a loss), c)Extract this amount, and either add if it was a win, or subtract if it was a loss, d)Have this total either added or subtracted and automatically entered on sheet 2 in the proper category (based on keyword) (on row 3 on sheet 2 would be where I would like the totals to show). Thanks.

here you can change the keyword nfl as per your choice.. alternatively, you can also get it from the headings using left / mid function.

See attachment:- Marc's Betting excel sheet.xlsx

Thanks so much. Worked great. One more question. Is there a way to make the total bold faced automatically if positive and red writing if it's a negative?

yes.. you can achieve the same using conditional formatting...
if cell value greater or equal to zero, bold
    and
if cell value less than 0, red font.

see the attached file.. Marc's Betting excel sheet.xlsx

Thanks again. Sorry for another question, but i'm not sure how to change the formula to look for two words. For instance, if I want it to calculate if it sees BOTH nfl and parlay, or nfl and tease. And I assume that both words don't have to be consecutive. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks.

Okay... and how you will enter both words in sheet1's column B ? Or you just want the results in sheet2 ? If so, what will be heading there ? thanks.

Re: Help with IF and keywords

Here is my updated spreadsheet. Notice in the bet type column that words like "parlay" and "tease" are used with different categories (nfl, ncaaf, rugby). And, on sheet 2, I want to break down the categories a little further (notice NFL totals with parlays, teasers, and straight). The only way to break it down that way is to look for TWO words (which are not consecutive). Can this be done? Thanks.

    Hi mgoldie1,

You need to update keyword to "*nfl*tease*", see below formula:-
