    Carrying Formatting Over

I was wondering if it's possible to carry over formatting from one cell to another. For example:

Let's say that A22 has the text "213.45" in it and the cell is highlighted in yellow.

Now, in C56, I use the formula "=A22". I know that it will bring over "213.45" but I also want it to automatically carry over the yellow highlighting.

    Is this possible?

    mwierega,

Welcome to the forum. "=A22" will just pick up the contents of the cell, and not the formatting - how the information is presented in terms of font/background colour, font size etc You could possibly do this with some VBA, but that's outside the range of my ability.
    Brendan.

Thanks Brendan, both for the welcome and the response!

VBA is Visual Basic for Applications, a programming language that allows you to, among other things, get Excel to do things for you that are not natively available, and automate tasks. There is sufficient information available via your search engine of choice to introduce you to it, including a VBA section in this forum, and plenty of online tutorials etc.

While I think of it - is copying and pasting, rather than using a formula, out of the question for you? (I realise it may be, due to the volume of data involved, for example....)
