How to auto save a cell in a second cell by date?

I need to figure out how to automatically save a cell into a second cell by date. For instance; I need cell A2 on Sheet 1 to save into cell A2 on Sheet 2 by todays date. When I open the file tomorrow I need to still see that information, then I need cell A2 on Sheet 1 to save into cell A3 on Sheet 2 by tomorrows date. Is this even possible? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

    Hi Cruise!
    Welcome to the forum!

What you want cannot be done using formulas. You'll need VBA macros for that.
You'll be better off moving your thread to the VBA section of this forum.

This is what I am trying to accomplish. I am trying to make it so the figures I input into the workbook calculate automatically to create month-to-date and year-to-date totals. I don't know how to do this, and I am not getting any additional help from the VBA forum. Is there anything I can do with Formulas?

Month-to-date and year-to-date should be possible using formulas.
Could you upload a sample workbook so we have something to work on?

As you look through this you will see that I was able to figure out how to do it the long way. What I am wanting is to input figures in the main portion of Sheet 1 and have all other cells change automatically. I want to get it so the today cells at the bottom equal the daily numbers. The Month cells equal the month to date totals, and the ytd cells equal the year to date totals without me having to change any other cells. I am basically trying to get it so I only have to input figures in one location and everything else changes automatically. Thank you for all your help.
