Match two sets of columns and return value

I am trying to match the two column in sheet 2 to the three columns in sheet 1 and id Column a&b match in sheet 1 & 2 to return the status in column C in sheet one in sheet 2.
I have sheet 1

Column A - Customer Id - 345101,345102
Column B - Date joined-02/01/2012,03/03,09
Coulmn C - Status - Active or inactive

Sheet 2 - the same information

Column A- Customer ID
Column B - date joined
Coulmn C - ??? ( if the customer id and date joined match our data in sheet one I would like it to return the coresponding status).

By creating a helper column containing all of the unique data, you can use vlookup.
