I have list of data that contains multiple user of a system. I have created pivot to know how many application i have - problem is, the result show the sum of user and not count of system. when i change the value to count, the grand total didn't add up.
help please.

This is not a pivot error as such. I have checked and pivot is doing fine.
If you goto sheet 5 and filter in column B for Blackberry, you will get one record and if you filter for Bloomberg, you will get 5 records and this is exactly what Pivot is showing, so thats correct.
Since both the data source columns are Text, you can not do other calculations like SUM / Average etc.
Now coming to your query.. I believe you just need the unique count of the System/Applications and for that you can just refer to column A of pivot table and hide / ignore column B .. simple. Thanks.

I am just exploring other options so that I can still get the data as per what I want. For smaller group of data, your solutions may work (ignore B and look at A column), but I have few thousand lines of data and thought that pivot may be able to help ...
Maybe pivot definitely cant do this .. but let's hear from other contributors as well before I mark this thread as closed.
