get x and y index out of a found value

    Hi all,

I'm having a 2d matrix, such as this one:

    - a b c d
    a 1 2 3 4
    b 5 6 7 8
    c 9 10 11 12
    d 13 14 15 16

In another place, I would like to enter for instance the value "2",
and to get in the two cells near the "2" the index a, and b.

    How can I do it?

    Thanks!

    Hello
If your example data is in cells A1:E5, then try the following formulas:

    For the x values:

    For the y values:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Here the number to reference is in cell I2.

    Hope this helps.
