Reconcile two lists - with a twist!

Hello, if anybody could help me i'd be really gratefull!

I have two lists. Most of the amounts can be matched off against eachother exactly. Some of the amounts on the second list need to be added together, then they match the first list. Finally, some simply don't reconcile.

Example:

List 1 List 2

£10 £10
£20 £20
£30 £78
£40 £33
£7

Does anybody know how excel can do this? I am having to do it manually, matching the two lists, and it takes hours! Not like in my example

just to clarify on the example... if you add 33 and 7 on list 2, you get 40. sorry the £7 meant to be in list 2!

i have no clue what you want lol.

perhaps it would be easier to help you if you uploaded a sample workbook, showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome would be, and how you would arrive at that (remove any confidential info if necessary).

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
