Insert Image based on result of the cell formula (red circle or green circle)

Hi,
I want to be able to add a green circle (showing active) or red circle (not active) in an Excel 2007 cell, based on the result of the formula. But I want the text (in my case they are numbers 1, 2,3.. which represent port number) in the cell remain intact. This is the picture of a switch board. It shows which port is connected to what device. If I add a note to the comment box in that cell, showing this port now is connected to someting it will automatically add a green circle next to it, if not it will remain red. I tried using word count (because if I add text the value of the text increases showing now I have someting connected, therefore change the color to green, but I am not good with formulas or VBA at all. Please help.

if you want an ecel solution, why not upload the excel file, instead of a word document?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Hi FDibbins,
The file I am working on is an Excel (2007) file. This is just a screenshot, so it will have a visual to show what I mean. Thanks.

i repeat my question, why bother uploading a word doc, be it a screenshot or whatever, when it is an excel solution you want...upload the excel workbook, not a picture of it

This is the new Excel file I have attached. This is supposed to look like the a switch and these are (1, 2, 3..) are the ports. On the comment box I input what port is connected to what server. I want it to be so when I add to the comment it will turn green, but when it is not active it is red. Please help me get this resolved. Thank you.
