Convert 4-5 digit number to time HH:MM:SS

    Hey there,

I've got several workbooks I use for tracking both personal running times and times for a high school XC team and track and field team. For ease of speed of time entry I either a straigh 4 or 5 digit number in C:C and a formula in D:D to convert it to time. Example being 3215 = 32:15. The formula works great as long as the time entered in C:C in less than 6000. At 6000 and above the formula shows the time as 0:00 where it should show 01:00:00

I've attached a small example workbook. Unformatted times in C:C. Converted times in D:D. Desired results shown in H:H

    Thanks

Just taking a second look, your formula works as well. as just need to change the format of the cells to: "HH:MM:SS"

    Hi scaffdog845

Could you not use: =C2/6000/24 format cells as hh:mm:ss

Thanks Kevin. Looks like that would work too. Always found working with stopwatch times a bit confusing. You would think that MS would incorporate them into Excel more seemlessly.
