My research requires me to plot curves of data (picture something similar to a bell curve). My basic columns are as follows: (A) x-values; (B) y-values; (C) slopes. The slopes are the slope of the line between each point. I'm trying to calculate the average slope up to the max y-value (peak of the curve). Then I need to do the same for the other side of the curve.
I'm working with hundreds of sets of data so I need Excel to seek out the Max y-value (column B) on its own, then show me the average all of the intermediate slopes up to that point (range of data in column C). I don't know how to correlate column (C) with a specific cell in column (B). I assume that the same type of formula will help me on the back side of the curve.
Any ideas? Thanks, in advance.
