Need to calculate retail price based on known cost and percentage

I am trying to calculate a formula to determine the retail price.

For example, I know that the cost of my item is $780.
I know that I want to make 22% profit on the item.
What is the formula then to get to a $1000 retail price?

I would like to be able to change the profit percentage and cost of the item and determine what retail should be.

    Thanks.

This is what I want to achieve. Obviously, the "?" represents my ineptitude in excel.

    Cost % Retail
    780 22% ?

    Try this in C2:

    =(1+B2)*A2

    Hope this helps.

With you price (780) in A1, your profit (.22) in B1:

    =A1*(1+B1)

However, if you're selling a $780 item for $1000 then 22% of the price is profit, which is different to making a 22% profit on the item (in which case you'd sell it for $951.60

Yeah, basically I want my result to be $1000 in the example. With those formulas, I get $951.60. Any other ideas?

    Try:

    =A1/(1-B1)
