    Post Count Number of Days in Which Employee Takes Off the Most (Trying to Identify Pattern)

    Hello, I'm new to the forum and look forward to your assistance.

    I've been tasked the with identifying the number of days in which an employee takes off the most based on the data in the attached sample workbook. In simplest form, I'm looking to see if there is a pattern - do they take off the majority of time on a Monday, Friday, etc.

    Is there a way to count, per quarter, how many Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, etc. each employee took off?

    Are you counting Sick or Vacation or both?

    I apologize for not clarifying. I'm primarily concerned with Sick at this time.

    I'm not sure how you want to organise the results exactly but you can use COUNTIFS in each quarter worksheet to count each day for each employee, e.g. For John Smith this will count Wednesdays sick

    =COUNTIFS($3:$3,"Wednesday",7:7,"s")

    Thank you so much for your response! I thought I was pretty good at Excel until I saw that formula. Would you be so kind as to break it down for me so that I can understand what it's doing? For example, I don't understand the $3 or the 7:7.
