    =Left while deleting the characters that are being copied from the original cell.

    Hi I was hoping to use the =Left function but also delete the characters that are being copied into the new cell.

    I know how to do the first row labeled 1 but I need to do the second row labeled 2.

    Try this:

    Assume "Cat and dog" is in A1, "Cat a" is in B1

    In A2 enter: =RIGHT(a1,len(a1)-len(b1))

    Perfect! I can use the regular =Left function and delete that column from the original. Thanks!
