    Question Hide cell contents

The formula of a cell (say, D5) is the product of 3 numbers: A x B x Cell C5. Numbers A and B are entered into the formula, but the number from cell C5 is variable and will change with each application. How do I keep the sum of A x B from showing up in D5 until the value of C5 is entered? I want the spreadsheet to appear empty until values are added for the variables.

Hi Oceanside and welcome to the forum,

Look at this example with an If formula to see if it does what you want.

D5 will not have a final sum until c5 is entered. I do not want D5 to show any sum until a number is put into c5.

I entered exactly what you put (subbed numbers for A & B) and got the word false in the cell.

=if(c5=",",0.4536*2.2*c5) is the 1st comma supposed to be a dot? I tried both ways and still got the word false in the cell.
