    Cool Vlookup in a table -not working correctly-HELP!!

    please see attached workbook-what I need is for column r to look at column q, and return a gl wage number based on the lookup table and do the same for the hours.
    when I do the lookup formula it comes back with part of the table done and then the rest as N/A, what am I doing wrong here?
    any help is greatly appreciated.

    TIA and have a great day!!

    The word is not the same, so VLookup won't find it (see the red text).

    P.s. you can solve that is you work with data-validation.

    Excel 2007 => data => datavalidation

    If column Q is manualy filled you can use data validation to make sure you make no imput faillure.

    See F1 (help) for data-validation.

    I did it is in my first post...here I updated that field, does the lookup field need to have $A5:$A159, because that is the only area to reference?

    You get an error, because you don't changed the name.

    You get an error, because you don't changed the name.

    The name you look up, and the name in the table where you lookup has to be the same (total equal).

    Otherwise you get an failure you showed us.
