    Question Nested cell limitation....need help with formula

    I am struggling with the following Excel formula.

    =INDEX((Year-Cumulative_dividend/Net_dividend),1,SUM(IF(Cumulative_dividend<=0,1,0))+1)

    It works fine if the payback period is less than seven years. My projections are over a 20 year period.

    How would the formula look like to allow for the nested cell limitations in Excel?

    Hi
    perhaps post a sample sheet explaining what you are trying to achieve ?
    In any case there is no problem of nested cells in what you have explained

    Rather than attempting to write your code, I would suggest you look at this payback period Excel formula

    And you won't be limited to only 20 cash flows as you stated
