    Question How to preserve formula references during sort in Microsoft Excel

    Hello.

    My table includes following data with formulas:

    When I sort data I got following (references are bad):
    after-sorting.png

    I would like to keep right references in formulas

    Is there a reason you don't have the margin value on the same line as the car and the formula? That would be the simplest way to maintain this. (Solution 2) The other way is to have the margin value not attached to the rest of the info. You would then use "hard cell" references, i.e. cell E2 is referred to as $E$2. (Solution 1)

    Thanks swhitesell for your help. But I woud like to keep the structure data as is. Is there any solution plase?
