only PC user can enter data in a excel cell

    Dear all,

I'm looking for a formula that will look at the user that is loged in the PC and if that is the one, he can enter information in a cell. This is to avoid that some other person can fill in a cell in a worksheet that is not ment for her/him.

Is this possible? just a simple formula that looks at the login name from a person?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Megatronixs,

I'd use a password on the workbook and only give the password to those allowed to edit it. See http://blog.recoverlostpassword.com/...xcel-2003.html

You cannot do it with a formula. You can use VBA to check then login name or you can set up passwords for specific cells and hand out those passwords to the appropriate individuals.

    Hi,

Thanks all. I guess I will go for the second option with VBA. I just that we need to avoid using passwords.

    Greetings.
