I have a list of letter grades that I would like to average to a letter grade. Usually the whole column of 35 will not be filled so blank spaces need to be accounted for. I have attached the sheet in question and would appreciate any help on this matter. Thank you for your time.Bookings.xlsx
Hi nissan and welcome to the forum
Im not sure what (or how) you want to average, but if you put this in a helper column (you can hide it is you want), it will convert the letters to their relevant value - you can then just a regulat =average() on them...
=IFERROR(INDEX($P$5:$Q$16,MATCH(I5,$P$5:$P$16,0),2),"")
edit: thanks Ben, I forgot to mention to the OP they had trailing spaces on some of their entries in the points table. But upper or lower caswe is not a problem with index/match or vlookup

Something similar. Note that your COLOR column entries have blank spaces as well as upper and lower case letters; they should be all caps and no trailing and leading spaces.
