    How to calculate (x/y)1/3

    Hi Guys,

I am struggling to replicate a calculation in excel that I have made on a calculator:

Which is (411.8/590)1/3, with the calculated answer I get 0.8870 in excel using this formula =(411.8/590)*1^3 I get 0.6979?

Any ideas on what might be going wrong would be very much appreciated!

I agree that =(411.8/590)^(1/3) will give you the answer you want. But the formula you posted says nothing about exponential (^)?

The formula you provided is ...=(411.8/590)*(1/3)
which can be simplified to =411.8/590*1/3
In both cases the answer is 0.2326......
