    Counting number of findings of a certain month and year

    I would like to have a formula calculating number of findings of January 2011 in a table.
    I am enclosing an example.
    I have tried a combination of SUMPRODUCT(--(YEAR ... with IF and AND, but I am stuck.
    Can anybody help me ?

    hi Saturn, maybe:
    =SUMPRODUCT(--(TEXT(B3:B6,"mmyy")="0111"))

    or in Excel 2007 & above:
    =COUNTIFS(B3:B6,">="&--("1jan2011"),B3:B6,"<="&--("31jan2011"))
