    Processing football(soccer) results

I have some football results and I am interested in finding how many goals scored in each of the last 6 games involving each team.
The columns are league(all the same),date, Home team, Away team, first half goals, second half goals.
I need a way of finding the total goals for each of the most recent 6 games for each team, home or away.
    eg. Barnsley, 1,2,2,3,4,3
The spreadsheet gets bigger every week as more results come in and I need to be able to do it without sorting.
I have spent a few days struggling with this but have not got very far. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Phil

I provided a solution for a similiar scenario. They wanted the AVERAGE of the previous 6 games.

Would you want something simliar to this, except SUMIFS instead of AVERAGEIFS? or are you wanting to have only ONE number for each team, that updates when you add a new game score?

    Re: Processing football(soccer) results

Thanks for the reply. I think my scenario is a little different, so basically from this data

    1/2/11 teamA teamB 1 2
    2/2/11 teamC teamB 1 1
    3/3/11 teamA teamB 0 1
    4/3/11 teamD teamA 3 1
    5/3/11 teamB teamC 2 1
    6/3/11 teamA teamE 2 2
    7/3/11 teamF teamA 3 1
    8/3/11 teamA teamG 1 2
    9/3/11 teamH teamA 0 0

    this would return:-

    teamA 0,3,4,4,4,1

Any more help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Phil

I wouldn't have deleted your first attempt at a reply. I found the explanation quite helpful. MORE info is usually a good idea.
I have a solution in mind that I think will work. Will post something ASAP.

    Re: Processing football(soccer) results

So I want the amount of goals scored in each of the previous 6 matches involving teamA. They don't have to be in any particular order, as long as it's the most recent 6 games.

By adding a helper column, the attached should work. I'm assuming you will have a list of the possible teams. Enter them in column K, and the #s should autofill.

    Re: Processing football(soccer) results

Hi Melvinrobb. Sorry to be a pain.
The solution you have provided is almost there but it only tells me how many goals each team has scored in the most recent 6 games. I need the total goals scored per game. So I need it to look up a match eg. the most recent (watford bolton on 02/02/12) and return a 3(total match goals) for both watford and bolton. It currently only returns the goals scored by that team. I need the overall match goals for a match involving that team.
It does currently return information from the most recent 6 games.
Thanks for all your help so far.
