How to get a total 'time in minutes' from a column that has military times entered

Hi...new to any and all message boards.

Need to be able to take a column that has times entered in military format (7:10:56) and have the cell at the bottom give the amount of total time in minutes (28 minutes).

Is there a formula to help me do that?

Thanks in advance for any help with this problem.

    to change to minutes use
=cell*24*60 and change format to a number
    OR

    =SUM(Cells)*24*60
