    Help with a basic function

    Hey Guys,

I haven't had to use excel for work in over a year nearly now and man my function skills are so rusty...

I am having a problem with the syntax of a function that I think is fairly straightforward but I can't seem to dig deep and find the answer..

What I need in plain english is this....

IF the values in the "C" column = Jimmy THEN add the value in "D" column that matches the same "C" column.

I have something that looks like this....

    Jimmy 3
    James 1
    Jimmy 1
    Bob 2
    Bob 3
    Jimmy 1

And I just want to sort the amounts by name...

    Any help is much appreciated
