Text Formulae - Please Help!!!

Good Morning Everyone,

I need help. I am trying to figure out a formulae in excel to shorten a list of file names in excel.

What I am trying to do is i.e

Financial documentation of the company.pdf = Financial documentation of the com.pdf
Daily summary textual formulaes.zip = Daily summary textual form.zip


I want the formulae to shorten the filename and still keep the file extension

Anybody got any tips please?

can you pl. throw some light by how much do you intend to shorten the name and from what positions in the entire name

I havent got a max lenght - any formulae would do and I will adapt it accordingly.

Okay then.. try below formula:-

=LEFT(TRIM(A1),20)&RIGHT(TRIM(A1),4)

where 20 is the length of the file name which you can adjust accordingly

below is what I found in forum rules:-
