Conditional formatting triggered by inital and date combination

I am trying to set up a conditional formatting rule that will trigger when I have an inital and date combination. eg. "AB 12/34/56". It will need to work or any date, however I can limit the initials that will be used.

Is this possible? if so, how?

I am sure it's possible, but to try to offer you a solution without some exaples of what you would expect to see under what conditions...VERY hard to give you a more specific answer
A picture may be worth a thousand words, BUT, a sample Workbook is worth a thousand screenshots!
-Add a File - click advanced (next to quick post), scroll to manage attachments, click, select add files, click select files, select file, click upload, when file shows up at bottom left, click done (bottom right), click submit

    More detail I can do.

I am trying to get every cell to react the the following inputs.

Exact match "Y" cell to fill orange (Simple conditional formatting)

Exact match "N" cell to fill red (Simple conditional formatting)

Text format "letter, letter, space, date" (XX 01/01/13) cell to fill Green.

Is this enough detail? I dont know how else to describe it sorry.
