Merging date AND time collumns into one timeline

    Hi everyone,

I am brand new to this forum, so if my problem has been solved before, please just point me to the right thread.

I have large data sets where variables are linked to a timeline, but the problem is that each variable has its one timeline column. I need to get them all on the same timeline so that i can use them all in one line graph for example. This would have been easier if it was not for the fact that each date is repeated many times since the timeline also distinguishes between different times on the same day.

I have attached an excel of the way I have the data now, and then an example I made up of how I need it to be. Of course this is only examples and the real data sets have thousands of records so manual processes is a no go for sure.
I have tried the custom sort where I first sort by date and then by time (while all the variables are also highlighted), and this works to an extent. But it still does not put the variables next to each other in one row, it creates duplicates of the same date and time.

Your help is much appreciated, thanks!

Have you thought of using Pivot table?
    Look at the attached file.
There is a macro created by recording the necessary changes that will copy all data in the proper format to use a pivot table or graph.
I copied your actual data in a second sheet to keep a copy of original data so you can try it.

    Hi,

I have tried this right now on the examples and so far so good. Now the big test lies ahead when using the actual field data and all the different formats I receive it in, but I'm sure your method will work just 100%.

Thanks for the great help and effort, much appreciated!

    Cheers
