    Basic Matrix Help

Hi All - quick question on referencing a matrix:

Is there a better way to reference a value in a matrix than using index/match/match functions?
The problem is that I am writing a formula that references multiple difference values from the matrix - creating a huge formula of index/match/match functions.

Any help would be most appreciated!

    Thanks!

you get better help if you add an excel file without confidentional information.

Please also add the desired (expected) result.

How are you referencing them? i.e. are you using column and row headers? some sort of relative referencing? There's just not enough info to answer your question. You might be able to use OFFSET or defined named ranges.

    Matrix Example 3.4.13.xlsx

Thanks for looking at this -

Sure, here is a mock up of what I'm looking at

In Cell P3 I'd look to input a formula that requires different references of the matrix, without using index/match/match - is that possible? If so, how please?

If you need a desired result, say standard retail sales price (10) - (Marketing Cost (5%) * Price (7)) * Number of Locations (29250)
Then I'd like to be able to drag it across all dates

This is a simplified example, I would not be able to just lock cells and drag.

    Thanks again for your help!

    Re: Basic Matrix Help

how would you write out the formula to =standard retail sales price (10) - (Marketing Cost (5%) * Price (7)) * Number of Locations (29250), from the matrix.

the reason why its confusing is that I think it is not very hard to just reference cells, i would need to write more complex forumulas referencing different cells in the matrix.

    Thanks all!

    Re: Basic Matrix Help

There may be ways to improve on the way your data is set up so that it is easier to pull from but it looks like using INDEX/Match would be your best bet on extracting data. As this data does not contain any dates, it's a little difficult to give more specific results.
