How to get avg. from several worksheets

    Eng Mat His Sci
    Jack 75 65 85 70
    Ben 69 75 48 65
    Carl 90 82 88 83
    Ajay 75 80 80 79

I have data like this in five work sheets (every worksheet contains, one month's data). I want everyone's subject average in sheet 6 (i.e., Jack's English average for the past five months).

FWIW, according to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...038.aspx?CTT=1, the =AVERAGE() function also supports 3D references, so you might also be able to use =average(sheet1:sheet5!b2:b5)

Now along with the above data, I have date column. In a new worksheet, I have to bring every student's latest mark... It will be easier if the latest data always in the same worksheet, but here it changes frequently. I am finding little difficult to find the formula.

    For eg,
I need Jack's latest (date/month) English mark. Now I have to find which worksheet have the latest data and find Jack's English mark from that sheet. Likewise, I need it for all the students.
