Hi!
I have an excel sheet where I want to use the Vlookup function but when I apply it, it always gives me "N/A". While, when I verify myself, there are actually results that match.
Could someone tell me what I did wrong here?
Thanks!

Hey dilipandey!
Thanks for your help but I would like to have the number mentioned in the E column from sheet 2009 in C column ('AV') in sheet 2009! but excel won't give me that
Excel can give that as well if you update the formula references accordingly.. see below:-

Try this and you'll get the results as you mentioned in above post

Hi Dilipandey,
I changed it but it still keeps saying N/A all the time while I know there are matches... Do you know why excel won't give me the correct result?
But in my attachment in post#2, it has given correct result.. can you upload your workbook and make sure you manually write your expected results in next column. Thx

Hi Dilipandey,
Okay, I put the expected results in the next column.
Thanks for your help!
Hi,
Your 2009! sheet 'numbers' are in fact strings.
Your 2009 sheet numbers are numbers.
For a VLOOKUP to work the value being looked up needs to be the same as the value in the object table.
Either change your 2009! formulae to

or convert all the 2009 sheet numbers to text.
