Formula with relative reference

hello im new in the forums, i have a question about an exel formula, this is one of those questions i keep reading and i still don't understand

10. In cell B18, enter a formula to calculate the amount of money loaned to Ghana in 2013 that SWM can expect will be repaid. In the formula, use a relative reference to the loan amount in cell B12 and an absolute reference to the “Repayment rate to date” value in cell K1. Copy the formula in cell B18 to the range C18:M18

You use $ signs to make parts of cell addresses "fixed" or "absolute". Without them, they are already relative (they change as you copy the formula from cell to cell).

A1 = relative column, relative row
$A1 = absolute column, relative row
A$1 = relative column, absolute row
$A$1 = absolute column, absolute row

I guess you'd multiply the amount in B12 (with a relative reference) with the value in K1 (with an absolute reference). K1 is assumed to be a percentage.

But really you should be asking your tutor to explain it to you, not getting the answers from a forum and pretending it's all your own work.

Thank you for the help and i wish i had a tutor but my class in online using SAM 2010 and my tutor wld take hours to answer if not longer, i wasnt just looking for and answer or a formula but also for an explanation to the formula.

I'm pleased that you are moving in the right direction. We try to avoid just giving answers to homework questions and assignments as you need to understand not just that you have an answer but where that answer came from.

Looks like you've filled in most of the workbook so it would seem you are making progress.
