convert a clocked time to seconds

    Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I'm hoping someone could help me with this problem.
I want to convert a clocked time which is written as 1m 17.36s into seconds (the answer being 77.36) is there a way of doing this, it would save me an awful lot of time.

    Hello Harvey,

If you have that value in A2 try this formula in B2

    =("0:"&SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A2,"m ",":"),"s",""))*86400
    Audere est facere

Consider using the custom format eg [s].00

Enter time as 0:01:17.36, displays as 77.36
