Basic Year to Date Formula

I am trying to create spreadsheet that allows for a year to date calculation for sales of items by week and allow me to pick a week and show what sales number there has been in that week. Having not used excel daily for four years, I am a little rusty! I have a previous spreadsheet I am trying to copy from, but the formulas are far to complicated to copy.

In row 5 from column L I have the week number to all 52 weeks.
Row A, list all the items.
I am looking to return in row J. At the top of this row, I can change the search week and it will show that weeks performance.
When I put it in week 4, for example, I want a formula that adds all numbers for that item up to week 4. Likewise if I change the performance week to week 11, I need it to add all weeks up to that week. It will also need show week 52.

Is there a formula out there for this?

i would suggest you upload a sample work book, (all sensitive data removed), showing what data you are working with, a few examples of what your expected outcome is, and how you arrived at that
To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

It actually sounds perfect for a pivot table....you can just add data to your data worksheet refresh the pivots....you don't need the week number in the pivot table you can group days by anything from minutes to years....to do weeks you would choose days and pick 7....but I agree Fdibbins....uploading for us to look at would make helping you a lot easier....HTH....
