    Robce,

Welcome to the forum. I think I have an idea of what you are trying to do, but you need to be more specific. What do you mean by good and bad "fields"? What means duplicate names? Break it down and be very specific.

You either quit or become really good at it. There are no other choices.

    Re: Sort and delete

Here is a small section of the list. Two of the names are duplicates. one duplicate is good , the one with the / and 12 digits. the other names I need to delete for this mailing. Any ideas I is not the simple find and delete duplicates the duplication shows me that those are the target. all are tab delimited? in excel

Rob, still not sure what you are trying to do here.... Try this: create an excel file with two sheets in it. Put the original data (give us at least 10 to 15 rows of it) into sheet 1 and 2 (so same data in both sheets), then go to sheet 2 and edit the data in it to the way you want it to look like. This will give us the "before" in sheet 1 and the "after" in sheet 2. Then go to sheet 1 and make comments in a different column of what needs to happen with every particular row - that is - leave as is, delete because (give reason), modify to (write what in needs to be modified to). Then post the actual excel file with the 2 sheets as an attachment to your message here on the forum.
