alphanumeric data validation

what is the FORMULA for alphanumeric only using data validation???

Is their a way so that i can restrict that user can't even type special characters????

Hi,

You could create a list of all the characters that you DO want to allow, name that range of characters and use the name in the Data Validation 'List' option.

sorry my question was a bit unclear but i need alphanumeric entries only.......like say bracket123 or 55434gears. it is not to be in list but a user entry....
