Determining the mean bat activity within 10 minute intervals over a 24 hour period.

I have done a study on the activity of bat in winter and i want to be able to find the mean activity within 10 minute intervals throughout a day. So i cn see if there are active around dusk, the study runs over 4 months and i have got the time and date of each bat in A1 and the type of bat in A2, it would be good to be able to separate the species of bats but just the general activity over the full period or smaller monthly period would be good.

I am wanting to produce a histogram with time day against mean bat activity

i have got no idea where to start , so all help much appreciated

    Cheers

I would probably use a pivot table for this.

I would add a separate column for the time of day (the formula would be =mod(<datefield>,1) and format as time)
I would put time and date as row fields.
I would put the bat species as a column field.
I would put (count of) bat species as a data field.

I would then group the times / dates using right-click and group & outline. You could hten produce a histogram directly from the pivot table.
