    replace selective codes

    Dear All,

I have an excel sheet with more than 1000 rows with selling item codes.

Some of the item codes have changed and I have got the old codes list and new codes list.

I wanted to put a formula, where excel will find out if this code is CHANGED IN THE ANOTHER COLUMN, then it will change it, if not then it will keep the same code.

Pls find the attached file for the same.

    Re: replace selective codes

The problem is that are 90% of the code are same. So i need a selective formula rather then a collective one. Vlook up will retrieve me the code. but then i have to enter all 7000 codes and that is v diff.
What i have is a list of all changed codes with the old and new one.
So what i need is a formula that will look in to the complete column and will give me the new codes in a new column and unchanged code as it is.

    Re: replace selective codes

As you can see VLOOKUP was the solution. I never implied that it would work alone. But then of course that would have needed some work which someone else did for you

A picture may be worth a thousand words, BUT, a sample Workbook is worth a thousand screenshots!
