Position of first day of month within list???

    Hi All

    Wonder if you can help.

I have a list of dates (Non sequential), I would like to find the position of the earliest day within the month.

Probably best explained with an example.

Date * Position of first day in month
    07/02/2006 * 1
    09/02/2006 * 1
    10/02/2006 * 1
    14/02/2006 * 1
    21/02/2006 * 1
    27/02/2006 * 1
    28/02/2006 * 1
    02/03/2006 * 8
    03/03/2006 * 8
    13/03/2006 * 8
    27/03/2006 * 8
    29/03/2006 * 8
    30/03/2006 * 8
    03/04/2006 * 14
    04/04/2006 * 14
    05/04/2006 * 14
    06/04/2006 * 14
    07/04/2006 * 14
    02/05/2006 * 19
    03/05/2006 * 19

I have data similar to this covering 50 years and need this formula so I can count the number of days, within the list which are within the calender month.

Any help would be greatly aprechated, thanks in advance.

Whilst not what I asked here, this has solved what I wanted to achieve:

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(TEXT($A$1:$A$21,"mmyyyy")=TEXT(A2,"mmyyyy")))
