Arrow When exporting from a Date format field I want to exclude the Time accompanying the date

Although a date field can be defined as say dd/mm/yyyy and displays as such, when using the date in an external application, the field actually includes the Time, which we do not want. Is there any way of defining the date field to exclude the time, but still be able to generate additional fields that will work with date processing.

If I create an entry in a General format field in Excel 2010 and Excel detects an entry such as dd/mm/yyyy, it converts it to a date format automatically but adds a time, although this is not visible unless the data is exported or processed by an external application.

We cannot find a way of preventing Excel from changing the format and adding Time to a date field, unless we post process and change the field back to text after Excel has automatically changed it to Date format. However, it is then impossible to process this field as a date field to generate a Day of the week in a new field from this, if we do that.

i.e. We want a date field in the format dd/mm/yyyy (excluding time) to operate as a date field in Excel but appear as a date without the hidden time when processed by an external application.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The int function returns the integer part of a number which in date/time format is the date.
    Int(MyDate)
