    VLOOKUP??? With additional condition??

    Hi All,

This is my first post so I hope I can convey what I am trying to achieve.

I have two criteria, "Serial Number", "Version" and a column which needs to lookup a corresponding "Date Completed". Then I have another data set that contains some of the "Date Completed" values.

The formula needs to Lookup the Serial Number, then the Version and if they are both the same (as the report row) populate with the corresponding Date Completed, or if it is not found in the data set populate with "Not Complete".

Another Twist is that the Data set Version may have another pair of numbers in the field which the formula must disregard and search for only the version from the report anywhere in the cell field.

I have populated the Report on the right as I would like the formula to be able to determine.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    thanks,

    Rob

Thank you sooooooooooooo much, that works perfectly.

I have another function that would be great if I could get to work.

If the Version cell, has a number code of varying length before the version name, is it possible to still search based only on the version name text?

    INDEX MATCH with SEARCH.xlsx

    thanks again!!

    Glad to hear it worked!
I put in a helper column to "clean" the text first.

Oh ok, I thought a helper column might be the only workaround.

Thank you sooo much again. I really cannot explain how much that helps.

I have one more "report" I would like to be able to generate...

This will generate a Report list of Serial Numbers, Version, Date Completed. From the "Data Set to Draw on" list, only when the Serial number and Version are not present in the "Original Report".

I'm not sure if I have explained well enough, the attached has the report list which I would like to generate.

I didn't quite get that. Could you show in the workbook what you want to do?
