Lookup a value in column 3 of a table if criteria in column 1 and 2 are met

Please see the attached excel file for an example of my situation.

In column A is a list of documents by Document ID. In a separate table each Document ID is repeated in a row every time that an event is logged for that document. For each event that occurs at a given document the 'Event Date' is logged in a neighboring column.

I want all of the Event IDs for a given Document ID to be displayed in one row as the date that they occurred, as pictured in the attached example. If a 'DocumentID' is associated to the same event twice, I want the most recent date to appear in the table on the left. (e.g., Since Document 101 is associated to the 'Draft' twice, the date of the more recent event should display in B2.

Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

hi shepherdc2814, try this array formula in B2:

...confirmed by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER to activate the array. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer. Press F2 on that cell and try again.

Hi Benishiryo, brilliant formula... After having applied this formula to my data set it appears to be working correctly but I need to double check it... So far so good, thank you!!!
