    Dividing time by a number (distance) to find pace

    This is probably a very simple question, but I haven't been able to find a working solution in all of the other posts about time division. I have a spreadsheet with a distance column and a time elapsed column. I simply want to divide the time by the distance to get the per mile pace.

    Example:

    F4=32:28 for 32 minutes, 28 seconds
    E4=3.11 for 3.11 miles

    G4 = ??? so that it will show 10:26 for 10 minutes, 26 seconds per mile

    I have only been able to do this by converting to fractional minutes for the math and converting back afterward...

    10:30 /2 -> 10.5/2 = 5.25 -> 5:15
    There has to be a simpler way.

    Thanks!

    G4=F4/E4=10:26
    Format as time

    It should be a straightforward division.
    G4 = F4/E4
    Set the number format for time.... the answer is 10:26 per mile
    Elegant Simplicity............. Not Always

    Wow thank you. I had read so many different forums and was switching formats to number, general, etc and basically just messing everything up so it would never show the correct answer when it really was this simple. Thank you guys so much!
