    Conditional formatting with a " - -" involved

I am attempting to create a conditional formatting formula that when it sees a " - -" in Column J2, It will take cells L2 - Q2 and turn them a different color.

I have been attempting to figure this out for the last horur and having an issue figuring this one out.

By the way, the " - -" are true dashes that are system generated.

    Thank you.

    Try this...

    Select the range L2:Q2

    Goto the Home tab>Styles>Conditional Formatting>
    Manage rules>New rule>Use a formula to determine
    which cells to format

Enter this formula in the box below:

    =$J2="- -"

    Click the Format button
    Select the desired style(s)
    OK out
