Running total of newly highlighted cells

Hi,

I am doing some work which involves matching up numbers on one sheet to numbers on another, and highlighting cells in green that match up. The totals in green on each sheet need to match, and I am doing this by manually applying a filter and subtotal(9 to find the totals. I want to automate my work by having a cell with a formula which keeps a running total of the cells I highlight in green, without having to manually apply my filter. Is this possible?

This can be done with VBA code. I do not know of a way to use a formula to get this result
